House of Dhurries are passionate about textiles. We are especially drawn to handmade, quality weaving with asymmetrical designs. Many visits to India has kept us fascinated. The skills and imagination of Indian weavers can turn bundles of wool, silk, cotton, jute, hemp and leather into beautiful, colourful fabrics and carpets. The primitive looms and hand tools have not changed much in thousands of years.

House of Dhurries supplies sustainable Chindi & 100% cotton Dhurrie carpets in 5 sizes. We have Chindi cushions in 2 sizes.

Chindis are flat ware rag carpets made of multiple fabrics that are cut-offs and waste mainly from local garment industries. Our Chindis may contain cotton, wool, silk, hemp, denim, synthetics, banana silk, linen, rayon – even leather.

The cut-offs used to make our Chindi textiles are torn by hand into 40-50 mm strips. Our local artisans combine the strips onto tasteful and highly decorative, practical floor or wall carpets. Our Chindis are handwoven – sustainable and reversible.

Dhurries are flat weave carpets that have root in local materials and traditions. Originally, Dhurries were made fro 3 functions : prayer mats, insulation under bed matrasses and for decoration in dining and living rooms.

Our collection is 100% new cotton in traditional old and bold stripe designs in attractive colours, mainly blue and terracotta. Our Dhurries are hand woven – reversible and washable.
