In the year 2000, I arrived in the U.S. as
a sixteen-year-old with no family and no knowledge of the English language.

My first job position was as a dishwasher in a small
restaurant. As I slowly learned English, I quickly
moved through the ranks- first as a prep cook and
eventually as a waitress and a cook. 

When I arrived in Washington, I began working at a
restaurant where I went from waitress to manager
and stayed for 13 years.

Along the way, my family grew and I met people that
noticed and appreciated my work ethic. 

Together,
with my family, friends, and community, the idea of
Equal Latin was born. A place that celebrates the
diversity of Olympia and humans everywhere.

Our menu represents a delicious mix of food from our
many cultures. 

After many years of dedicated hard work and a
strong support system, I have realized my dream. A
restaurant that welcomes all.
